It is the world's largest independent, not-for-profit auditor of print, on-line and in-person media offering uniformly applied standards around the world. Now in its 80th year, BPA Worldwide has more than 2600 advertisers and media buyers within its worldwide membership. It audits more than 2700 media properties in more than 30 countries with Libya, South Africa and Tanzania the most recent additions. Its offices are located in Beijing, Dubai, London, Montreal, Toronto and Shelton, Connecticut nearby New York City.

BPA audits enable media owners to compete successfully for advertising spend by providing media buyers and advertisers with independently audited data. Media buyers and advertisers, in turn, demand such independent metrics as a way of informing their buying decisions and protecting their interests. Third party audits represent the buyer's only reliable assurance against misleading, exaggerated or even fraudulent claims.

Mr. Hansen has been instrumental in expanding BPA's media membership globally. Under his leadership, BPA pioneered independent circulation auditing in China beginning in 1996 and has expanded its presence in greater Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

Mr. Hansen and his team have worked extensively with governmental and media industry organizations around the globe to help establish and uphold world-class media-auditing standards.

He is past Chairman of the International Committee of the American Business Media (ABM), serves on the Executive Board of the International Federation of Audit Bureaus of Circulation (IFABC) and is past President of the Asia Pacific ABC regional group of the IFABC to which he now serves as treasurer.

He served on Honorary Committee of the IAEE establishing standards for auditing exhibitions and events which lead to the creation of the Exhibition and Event Industry Audit Commission (EEIAC). In 2008, he introduced constant near real time web measurement for all trade shows that have their attendance audited. In this way, organizers can demonstrate how they keep their audience engaged all year. He has been awarded and recognized by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) for his industry effort as an advocate for best practices in measuring shows to help better position events relative to other forms of media.

Mr. Hansen is a magna cum laude graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Prior to joining BPA, he was an officer with the U.S. Customs Service, working in narcotics interdiction and cargo theft squads in New York airports and shipyards.
